Meet ROOF. Rooms amazing new room with a view Continuing its world-renowned tradition of delivering cutting edge spaces and uber-cool facilities, Melbourne nightclub institution, Room680, is proud to announce the unveiling of a brand new room, Roof its sexiest yet!Perched high above the clubs iconic existing structure, Roof is an acoustically engineered, open-air enclave that combines ultra-modern fittings and state of the art amenities with custom-designed furniture, uber-cool artwork and environmentally inspired palettes. Drawing upon themes of growth and sustainability, the lush 120sqm designer space boasts an array of cutting-edge features and materials that have been carefully selected for both their form and function. From crisp, fresh greens to rusty, dusty reds and from warm, earthy browns to charcoal black; Roofs interior palette comprises a rich selection of natures boldest, classic tones. Roofs floor is made from Pebbleflex (a new sound absorbent rubber surface from the United States), its feature walls are made from naked 12ft Red Gum slats (sourced from Victorias Murray Darling region), while a fully-motorised retractable roof hovers above. Stunning 7mx3m designer banners depicting a selection of hip monochrome montages (offset with bright green devices and real vines) afford patrons a visually decadent environment one that is further enhanced by quirky mod-grass clad furniture/amenities (including banana lounges, planter boxes and ashtrays!), table tennis tables and a magnificent white leather Chesterfield!Since opening our doors seven years ago, our philosophy has been one firmly grounded in giving Melbournes nightclub community a highly unique, stimulating and, most importantly, constantly evolving space to interact with, explains Rooms Managing Director/Creative Director, Dave Christensen. Roof is a wonderful continuation and extension of this philosophy were extremely proud of it. Via languages of colour, design and texture it conveys a contemporary perception of the environment, and through clever use of design, materials and technique weve created an ultra-modern space thats more Tokyo 2020 than Melbourne 2008!Roof officially opened on Saturday September 13, 2008.
